The record was set in the 1st leg of the 400m medley relay. The time was 52.38, which broke the WR by .16. He was wearing a Jaked.
The race is already on youtube.
The 100 back is going to be one of the most if not the most exciting/competitive races in Rome. I can't wait. Hopefully Ryan will qualify and be part of it.

Mediterranean Games - Aschwin Wildeboer Faber wins 100m back, sets European record

Aschwin Wildeboer Faber won the 100m backstroke at the Mediterranean Games today with a time of 52.87, which is a new European record and tied with Junya Koga of Japan for the 2nd fastest time in the world in 2009.
The world record is 52.54 and is still held by Aaron Peirsol.
The only swimmer who has gone faster in the 100 back in 2009 was Ryosuke Irie, who swam a 52.56 in May.
I don't remember if Irie and Koga were wearing the unapproved Descente Aquaforce Zero suits when they achieved their times, but I don't think it matters that much. I don't know what kind of suit Wildeboar was wearing when he set the new European record. All three (Irie, Koga and Wildeboer) are going to be super fast in Rome.
It's definitely not a lock that the Americans will win gold and silver in this event at the world championships.
