As anticipated, Ryan swam the prelims of the 400m IM today. He finished first in his heat and second overall with a time of 4:15.63. Tyler Clary was 1st with a blistering time of 4:11.29, swimming in a different heat than Ryan. Ryan was wearing legs (presumably LZR) and Tyler was reportedly wearing a Jaked. Ryan was really not pushed in his heat, finishing 5 seconds ahead of Andrew Gemmell. Tyler also was not pushed finishing almost 7 seconds ahead of Jack Brown.
Tonight's finals are going to be very interesting! I hope Tyler and Ryan can push each other to some great times. Can't wait for Gold Medal Mel's pre-finals report starting at 5:30 p.m. EDT at http://www.universalsports.com/

In a sad note, Garrett McCaffrey announced today that he has left flowswimming.org, one of my favorite swimming websites. For a new fan like me, the interviews and content he provided were largely unparalleled, especially regarding the technical aspect of swimming. I learned so much about the sport by watching his long interviews, particularly interviews with coaches. I hope he continues with the sport and finds another similar position.
