Swimmingworld Magazine posted the audio of Ryan Lochte's and National Team Director Mark Schubert's conference call with the press on August 11. Ryan confirmed he plans to swim in 7 events at Pan Pacs: 200/400 IM, 100/200 free, 200 back and the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 free relays. Ryan said he needs to practice swimming multiple events at meets so he can qualify for a lot of events in London in 2012. My guess is Ryan's events in London will be similar to the events he is swimming at Pan Pacs.

Watching Ryan from the stands for a couple of days at Nationals was amazing. Yes, he's still "Reezy" with his electric green shoes and free spirit. He warms up in the pool with everyone else. He danced to Lil' Wayne and wore semi-inappropriate tee shirts. Except for the occasional Speedo rep he had no entourage. He signed every autograph and took every picture asked of him. His performance in the pool was astounding and I believe Pan Pacs will demonstrate even more what he is capable of. The story is not what Michael Phelps didn't do but what Ryan Lochte did do. He's focused and he says he's "listening." Could Ryan Lochte be maturing? Growing up before our very eyes? Definitely yes..while not losing that "Reezy" we all know and love. It's an exciting time in his career.
