I think Ryan is tired. It's just the prelims, but he swam more than 2.6 seconds slower than his personal best and did not make the A final. From his splits, both his 50s were slower than the top 8, so it's not like he went out too fast and burned out. This is why I think he is tired.
Of course it also depends on what kind of a suit Ryan was wearing.
