Ryan named world and American "Swimmer of the Year" by Swimmingworld Magazine

This is a huge honor for Ryan - it's the first time he's won. Last year (2009) he placed 4th. This is a huge deal. Congrats to Ryan.

Lochte, meanwhile, slayed the dragon in 2010 by ending Michael Phelps' record four-year streak atop the mountain as the Male World Swimmer of the Year. The win gave Lochte his first regional and world triumph in the voting as he stepped out of Phelps' shadow. Lochte put together his best year to date with an impressive outing at Pan Pacs with wins in the 200 free (1:45.30), 200 back (1:54.12), 200 IM (1:54.43) and 400 IM (4:07.59).
