3.) When Can We Expect The Legendary ‘Lochte Drop’? At last March’s Columbus Grand Prix, Natalie Coughlin said that some swimmers tend to swim not quite as fast throughout the season, then swim “lights-out” at the end of the year. Count Ryan Lochte as one of those “end-of-season finale” types. Lochte has been relatively quiet this Grand Prix season, because he’s been enduring some of the most grueling and intensive workouts in Gainesville under 2012 Olympic head coach Gregg Troy. He has his eyes set to peak in Omaha. However, with six weeks before the Trials, perhaps this weekend we’ll see the beginnings of that legendary “Lochte Drop.” Lochte is entered in nine events, continuing his trend of “I’ll Swim Anything, Anytime, Anywhere” mentality. (One wonders if Lochte has nine different colored Speedos to accompany his barrage of events….)
