swimmingworld.tv 2011 prediction video

Lots of Lochte vs. Phelps discussion (about 10 minutes). So interesting!! The discussion is in the beginning of the video and at the end.

I think people need to calm down and to think rationally when they keep placing Ryan Lochte as King of the Pool. Yes, he beat Phelps in the 200IM, yes he won 6 golds at Pan Pacs but do people really think Lochte is THAT versatile and that good to overtake Phelps? Seriously? Beating Phelps in a non-Olympic year makes him King of the Pool? Firstly, Phelps was dominant in the IMs, butterfly AND 200m in 2008 and the US is so dominant in the 400m Medley relay because of Phelps. I just don't see that sort leadership/dominance in Lochte. In all honesty, we will not see the Phelps of 2008 in London, that's unrealistic and unfair to Phelps to expect the 27 year old to repeat the 'magic' of Beijing. Even if Lochte wins the 200IM and 200 back in London, I still Phelps will be the more memorable swimmer.

Phelps vs. Lochte is the most exciting rivalry in swimming. The next 18 months will be very interesting.

I'd like to see Ryan reach his goals and I love that he's put it out there that he wants to be the best swimmer in the world and he wants to win 8-9 gold medals.

Ryan's goals don't take anything away from Michael Phelps or his achievements. Ryan has a lot of other competitors in the US and other countries. As swimming fans, we all win by getting to see them compete.
