When Tyler Clary said he was hoping to break Michael Phelp's American record in the 400y IM, I thought he could do it, but never thought he would break 3:36. He did and it was amazing. 3:35.98! That's fast.
Ryan's fastest time in this event, which happened after he finished college, is 3:37.88 (2007). Micheal Phelps' best time is 3:36.26 (2006). I'd love to see the three of them swim this event together. It probably will not happen, because MP may not swim it again and Ryan seems to have also given it up (at least in SCY). Still, it would be great for swimming if they did.
