German and Scottish National Championships this week

The German long course national championships are currently underway in Berlin. Yannick Lebherz broke the German record for the 400m IM with a time of 4:14.63 . This is the 13th fastest time in the world this year.

I think the 400 IM is going to be a very interesting event at the World Championships, particularly since Michael Phelps is not going to swim it anymore. There seems to have been a lot of improvement by swimmers who weren't in the finals in Beijing. Nobody has gone under 4:10 this year. According to the rankings at http://www.swimnews.com/, only 4 swimmers have ever gone under 4:10 in this event: Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Laszlo Cseh and Luca Marin.

The Scottish nationals will begin tomorrow in Glasgow. This meet serves as the second chance for swimmers to make the British team for the World Championships. The psych sheet can be found here:
